wild idol
Wild Idol is the first alcohol-free drink listed by Silex, but is unlikely to be the last; we're aware of the growing demand for no and low, and of the increasing quality of the products being produced.
To that point, the sparkling Wild Idol Brut and Rosé are sophisticated and food-friendly, with a delicate mousse and complexity. They're made from Müller-Thurgau (blended with Merlot for the Rosé) grown in Germany's Rheinhessen region. The precise method of carbonation – to obtain those gentle yet persistent bubbles – is a closely guarded secret and unlike other non-alcoholic or de-alcoholised wines, Wild Idol has never had alcohol in its ingredients. Their production is simplistic and pure, with no artificial intervention.

1
Naturally Alcohol Free
Overseen by a team of award-winning English winemakers, Wild Idol’s production is considered in the same careful manner as winemaking, with a focus on provenance and declaring a vintage on every bottle.
Grapes are carefully chosen for their clean, naturally fruit-forward flavours and aromatic character and blended at their freshest. Dornfelder, Merlot and Muller-Thurgau varietals feature in our blends, from the famed winemaking region of southwest Germany.
Unlike alcoholic wine and other ‘de-alcoholised’ non-alcoholic alternatives, Wild Idol’s grapes do not undergo a process of fermentation, so there is nothing to remove, and minimal handling required, for a naturally alcohol free drink.
2
The Bubbles
While the bubbles in Champagne are a result of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) produced during fermentation, Wild Idol’s pure, fermentation-free process means its bubbles are induced via refined carbonation.
Achieving the tiny, fine bubbles that give Wild Idol it’s velvety ‘mousse’, is difficult, requiring the juice to first be chilled, then carbonated under very high pressure (5.2 bar).
This high pressure pushes more CO2 into the blend, resulting in smaller, more delicate bubbles on the palate and longer-lasting fizz in the glass.

Sustainability Policy & 1 % for the Planet

Wild Idol relies on the natural environment for production, therefore instilling a responsibility to help protect it. As a company, they are committed to making conscious, continued steps towards achieving sustainable, green practices in everything they do.
Corks are recycled, which are themselves upcycled from cork offcuts. Bottles are made with cullet recycled glass, saving energy and reducing emissions. Natural soy for printing on the eco-friendly boxes is used instead of traditional oil-based inks.

Wild Idol is also a proud member of 1% for the Planet - a global organisation that exists to ensure the planet and future generations thrive.
As a 1% member, Wild Idol has made a commitment to donate 1% of their annual sales to environmental causes and non-profits that drive true on-the-ground change within six core issue areas: climate, food, land, pollution, water and wildlife.
